Loudrage
BY SOME LINE OF TWISTED REASONING, ROMANIA’S LOUDRAGE MAY BE THE WORLD’S MOST ORIGINAL BAND. NOT ONLY DO THEY HAVE A NAME SYNONYMOUS WITH CACOPHONOUS ANGER AND LYRICAL THEMES CENTERED ON PROSTITUTES, BUT A GROOVY DEATH METAL SOUND WHOSE FOUNDATIONS ARE HOOKS AND CATCHINESS. WITHOUT A DOUBT A GREAT BUNCH OF GUYS TO WATCH PORN WITH, DIRTY-MINDED FRONTMAN MOLESTER GIVES US THE GOODS ON THEIR AMBITIOUS NEW EP, ‘RAGE UNLEASHED.’

How are you doing?
Molester: Hola HailndKill, como estas? We're all good, thanks! And thanks for featuring us in Filipinometal, we are very honoured.

Why settle for the name ‘Loudrage'? Couldn't it be more brutal?
M: Why not? It's an original name, or at least we're unaware of any other band with this name out there and it pretty much represents what we play. We're not that brutal compared with the nowadays extreme death/grind outfits, we're somewhere in the middle of brutality and melody in death metal so I think this band name it's a good one.

Is 'Rage Unleashed' supposed to be an album or an EP? And does it tell a story?
M: 'Rage unleashed' is an EP and it was supposed to be that way as it contains only six tracks and intros. Yes, it presents the story of a murderer from birth till death. If you play it with the intros you'll get the whole story without having the lyrics in front of you.

Where did you find the studio and the label to work on this release?
M: The studio is owned by a Thrash/Hardcore band that we're good friends with (Guerrillas, check them out at www.guerrillas.ro) and they were very helpful in all that. Their guitarist, OQ, is also the sound-engineer. And the label, haha, came right out our pockets, as Pest Records is our own small underground label.

Where did the band get the money to finance the whole thing? Did it burn a hole in your pockets? Or did Pest Records cover the finances?
M: Pest Records covered all finances, yes, they are the best around, hahaha. Now kidding apart, I think we've eneded up pretty good with the finances as we didn't spend too much on the whole, or at least we spent as much as we could afford, but we are very thankful to the Guerrillas crew who helped us.

Has writing lyrics for your songs ever given you an erection? But seriously now, who writes the songs and music in the band?
M: I write all the lyrics, but the music is made at the rehearsals. Bestial, the guitarist, comes with a riff and that's the foundation for starting a new track. As for the erection, it would be kinda awkward to get a boner at the rehearsal place, because the others would get one too, hahaha.

Are songs like 'Well Cum' and 'Breastfeed Your Child' supposed to reflect the bands sexual urges?
M: They sure do, we're all maniacs!

Anyway you describe yourselves as Groovy Death Metal, your music is slow-sometimes fast- and very catchy. Is this how you always wanted to sound?
M: Yes, that's the way we wanted the music from the beginning as we're all fans of Old School Death, Grind and the new extreme 'core' Metal. We've tried to combine them and I think we have succeeded, although there's more of the Old School Death Metal than Grind or 'Core' Metal. And it has a lot of groove, the 'groovy' addition to the band's music label came naturally and not forced in order to 'create' a new sub-genre.

How often does Loudrage play live? Are you like nocturnal creatures now, with music all night and then sleep the following day?
M: On a normal basis we play twice a month, but there are months when we're more busy with our porn collections and not playing that much (only with ourselves, haha) and there are months when we do tours or mini-tours around here.

And which venues do you usually play in? Any tours or festival appearances yet?
We've had a Romanian tour with Rictus Grin (Thrash/Death from USA, www.rictusgrin.com) in 2006 and since then we only had mini-tours for three or four days, and yes, there have been some local festivals. We'll play one this September with Nile, Belphegor and Grave as headliners. We prefer the small pubs at this stage, it's a closer approach with the audience and you get the right feedback or bottles in the head.

Are there people you know who are the band's number one fans this early in your careers?
M: There are some, but I would prefer to call them friends in stead of fans. So yes, we have a lot of friends that enjoy our music and that's great. The best thing is their number is growing all the time and they are from all over the world, so we're a pretty happy band now.

Can you name other Romanian bands we should know about?
M: No, it would not be fair to the rest of them, but you can check out our Extreme Metal scene by accessing our Romanian Death Metal Community Myspace profile (www.myspace.com/rodeathmetal) and listen by yourselves. I think we have a great scene, or at least we have great bands around here. They only need a bit more promotion.

At what point in your lives did your minds get sucked in by Death Metal? And how many other bands, whether famous or just a little well known, have you caught live? Is Manowar included?
M: I'm a bit older than the rest, but we all began enjoying this kind of music during highschool. We have caught many, many bands live, and it would be pointless to name them all here. For example our drummer just returned from a Brutal Assault show. And to be honest, even if they are considered gay and shit by many, I would very much like to see Manowar live.

Being from a former Communist country, was there a small metal scene when Romania was still part of the Eastern Bloc?
M: When we were still in the Communist regime there was a very small, almost inexistent metal scene, but there were some heavy metal and thrash metal bands by the late '80's. Those were tough times, I'm glad we're now a democratic country, although there still are old habits here and there.

Do you remember The Cheeky Girls? These twin blondes who sang stupid pop songs? They actually toured in my country a few years ago. Why is Romanian pop prone to enjoying breakout success?
M: The Cheeky Girls are from the town I live and work in nowadays. I really don't know their story, but lucky for them to have succeeded in this business. I can't comment on their music because it's not my cup of tea. The Romanian pop/dance scene is very strong, there's a big business that surrounds it and lots and lots of money is involved, so it's natural they reach many countries, investments must be profitable. Simple as that.

Is there a local porn industry in Romania? Would you recommend any videos/DVDs or actresses?
M: There are some production companies, but I really don't know their names. The actresses are great, I can mention here Sandra Romain who's the most well known. Or try lookin' for some Titus Steel and Jasmine flicks.

Since DVD's were just mentioned, doesn't the band have its own DVD? Tell us about it.
M: Yes, we have released a DIY split DVD with our friends from Rictus Grin (Old Shool Thrash/Death from USA - www.rictusgrin.com) in 2007. It's all about our Romanian tour together from 2006 with live footage, road fun, pics, and music. It's a funny DVD.

Do you think Dracula is sexy? By extension, name a chick whose tits you wanna lick.
M: Dracula is not real, so if you want him to be sexy you can imagine him being sexy, haha. I don't know what to answer for the second question. I guess tits are great, lick 'em all, hahaha.

What else keeps you busy aside from the band? Are you working or still attending university?
M: Three of us are working in Sales and one is in his first year at the university, so it's a new life for him nowadays.

I hope this interview made you hard. Anyway, with the first chapter of your discography done, what's the next step for Loudrage?

The next step will be a new EP or the release of our first full-length and it will happen in the beginning of 2009. Hope to start playing outside of our country soon (until now we had only bad luck when it came to that) and hope more metalheads will listen at least once our tracks.

Thanks a lot for this interview, hope my answers made you hard, though, haha. Best wishes to you and all your readers! If anyone's interested in Loudrage, you can find out more about us at www.loudrage.com and www.myspace.com/loudrage
Groove you to Death!
